spur Ranch Youth Program  child-vacation-2.jpg

A highlight of family vacations at our dude ranch is our youth program. Our guests age 4 -12 have a staff of youth counselors whose only responsibility is to ensure a wonderful family vacation experience for these younger guests.

Our youth counselors will put together a fun, flexible program designed around the interests of the children joining us for the week. child-vacation-4.jpgCounselors are on duty daily from 9:00 in the morning until about 8:30 in the evening. The flexibility of the program gives families time together as well as allowing the children to have adventures of their own.family_vacation_9.jpg

The nature of our youth program changes weekly based on the interests and imaginations of the children vacationing with us. Activities include team sports, riding, and swimming as well as crafts, nature walks, and story telling.

Several popular youth activities are scheduled every week. girls-counselor.jpgThe children stage a talent show for the adults, go on a dinner hayride and camp out, and design and build a piñata that they break at games night on Friday. The children also will often choose to join in the adult evening activities such as interpretive nature walks.

child-vacation-1.jpgAlthough they shadow the older kids when appropriate, our 4 & 5 year old guests have a counselor and program all their own. Favorite craft projects might include finger paint pudding, potato stamps, dough sculpture and making cookies. For children under 4, we do have hourly babysitting available.

At Rock Springs, the children are our guests, child-vacation-12.jpgrather than the all-to-common secondary status as "the children of our guests." The quality of their experience is as important to us as that of the adults. Truly, Rock Springs Guest Ranch offers a memorable and marvelous family vacation experience for children.

Also see our page on how to compare youth programs.

"(The youth counselors) went way beyond the call of duty- again an inspiration for how to enjoy the moment. The kids were intoxicated by counselors never ending love and attention- highly unusual people who just keep giving.
